When I was getting ready to do this blog, I was immersed in the food of my own childhood—still kind of am.  But the other thing that has enchanted me is the food of other people’s childhoods.  You all have such great stories to tell.  To wit:

CK and Becka’s Grandma Food

A couple weeks ago, CK of Made By Bedtime Tales made her Grandma’s Sauerbraten and German Dumplings. She also had a nice talk on the phone with her Grandma, and shared her Grandma Food with all of us in that post.  Then, just a week ago, CK and her family experienced the loss of her Grandma, and again, CK shared that sweet emotional tie with us.  I am so sad for CK and Becka, but I share CK’s joy that she was able to connect with her Grandma through recreating the food of her childhood.  I will make this food very soon. I have been craving it, and I’ve never even tasted anything like it before.

Pat’s Mom Food

Of all my friends, two are the ones I most often think of as being kindred to me when it comes to food: Kathy of Walton Eats and Pat of Cooking from the market.  Pat posted a lovely tribute to her mom and to the beauty of Mom Food itself, and once again, I felt that Pat is my sister. Only cuter.

Anna’s Mom and Dad Food

A few weeks ago, I learned about Anna’s Table, where Anna gives wonderful recipes and tutorials, in honor of her parents, their food, and their hospitality. I drool over these gnocchi, and will make them soon, as well.

Prudence’s Mom Food in Mom Bowl

Last month, Prudence from A Vintage Mom made her mother’s frozen fruit salad in the same bowl her mother used.  I understand that joy, and I felt it on Saturday when I made my mom’s lasagna in the same pot she used when I was a child.

Chris’s Mother Food

And then my friend Chris shared a very good and flexible recipe for Mother Hansen’s Chicken Stew, letting us know how his mother did it. I love these kinds of methods/recipes. I could read them all day.

Keep ’em coming!

I’ve said it before, but the most delightful surprise I’ve had since starting this project isn’t how great it is that other people like hearing about my Mom Food, though that of course is gratifying. It’s how much pure joy it is to hear about yours.

I’ll be doing more OPMF (Other People’s Mom Food) posts in the near future. I’ll look for your Mom Food posts as I surf the blogosphere, but if you want to give me a heads-up, please do so at the Contact form.  Or if you’re feeling really ambitious, head on over to the Contribute page and learn how you can guest-post here and show the world what you’ve been up to in your own journey to preserve your culinary heritage.

COVERING BECKHAM: Beckham had just five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown when the teams met in the regular season in Week 5, a 23 16 victory for Green Bay. The Packers’ secondary was battered by injuries then, just hockey jerseys like it is now. (neck/concussion) will miss the game Sunday, while is questionable with a knee injury. But second year player LaDarius Gunter, who helped contain Beckham back in October, remains healthy. Gunter has become the most consistent cornerback for the Packers, who have also been without veteran (concussion) since the Wholesale Jerseys season opener.Continue the pattern, reducing the length of the swims by 25 m each time and increasing speed each time. Finish the pattern by swimming one length at sprint speed. Remember to stop the underwater portion of the exercise if you feel dizzy or disoriented during the workout.Another effective breath control workout involves swimming with both fins and hand paddles. Genes are represented in rows, arrays are in columns. Shades of green are proportional to the cheap nfl jerseys increased expression in the PS1 deficient embryos, shades cheap nfl jerseys of red are proportional to the transcript decreases. Left panel: Hierarchical clustering of 100 genes that showed prominent developmental change between E12.5 and E14.5 WT embryos. By the 1990s, disturbing stories were coming from many of the Nike factories throughout the world. Some described child labor, wages well below wholesale nfl jersyes the poverty level and forced overtime. Others told of physical abuse from factory overseers, exposure to dangerous chemicals and poor air quality. These stories cheap jerseys drew the attention of human rights groups, which began to bring media attention to these stories, hoping that pressure from the public could bring about change. Groups such as Education for Justice, Global Exchange and Students Against Sweatshop Labor led the effort against Nike. It is important to understand that the use of sweatshops was not then, and is still not, something that only Nike engages in. While many shoe and apparel manufacturer’s are accused of using sweatshops, human rights groups have focused their efforts on Nike, because of Nike’s role as the sales leader in the industry. Groups like Global Exchange hope that by pressuring Nike to change, other companies will be motivated to change their own practices. And the weird thing is, even though this is the most highly anticipated game, these are the two teams that don’t have a winning record, but that’s just how strong the Raven Steelers rivalry is. That’s just how strong football is on Thanksgiving. In fact, I’m going to throw a stat at you. You know, you said 25 Cheap Jerseys million, on average, watched last year, but we can’t strip out those stats to find out how many different individuals watched some part of a football game.

I run The Mom Food Project, which was born out of love for my mom and a desire to preserve the recipes of my childhood, which didn't actually exist in written form until I quizzed my mom and wrote the recipes down.
